  • 4.25 inch clay pot

  • worsted weight yarn in yellow, lime green, and an orangey/tan cream

ABBREVIATIONS:

  • ch: chain

  • hdc: half-double crochet

  • inc: increase

  • dec: decrease

  • st: stitch

  • sl st: slip stitch

body in orangey/tan cream

I do my crochet work without really counting rounds, so be sure to insert your stitch marker in every first stitch of every new row.

  • Row 1: sc 6 into mr

  • Row 2: inc in each stitch around

  • Row 3: (inc, sc) around

  • Row 4: (inc, 2 sc) around

  • Row 5: (inc, 3 sc) around

  • Row 6-10: sc around each row

  • Row 11: (dec, sc 6) x 3 times, dec, sc 4

  • Row 12-14: sc around

  • Row 15: (dec, sc 5 around) x 3 times, dec, sc 3

  • Row 16-17: sc around

  • Row 18: (back loop only) dec, sc 4 around, dec, sc 2 last one

  • Row 19:(both loops like normal) sc around

  • Row 20: sc around, tie off

rim around bottom of body

Go to row 17 were we left the front loops open. Make a slip knot and pull it through the first front loop, and chain 1. Half double crochet around using the loops, and slip stitch to the first chain we made. Tie off. Stuff the body.

Arms in orangey/tan cream - make 2

  • Row 1: sc 7 in magic ring

  • Row 2: (back loop only) sc around

  • Row 3: sc around both loops

  • Row 4: sc around

  • Row 5-8: sc around, tie off

Lightly stuff arms, cut wire so that it is is twice as long as arm, fold wire in half so no sharp ends poke through, and insert into arms. Fold arms in half to form 90 degrees L shape with equal sides, cut excess wire. Attach to body either by sewing or with glue.

Hard hat - in yellow, then lime green

  • Row 1: sc 6 in mr

  • Row 2: inc around

  • Row 3: (inc, sc) around

  • Row 4: (inc, 2 sc) around

  • Row 5-6: sc around

  • Row 7: switch to lime green yarn, and loosely slip stitch in back loop around row

  • Row 8: (back loop only) (inc, sc 3) around, then switch back to yellow

  • Row 9: (back loop only) loosely slip stitch around, chain 1

  • Row 10: (back loop only) (hdc-inc, hdc) around, slip stitch to the first chain we made at the end of row 9, tie off and weave in ends with yarn needle.

Using yellow yarn and yarn needle, satin stitch an upside-down trapezoid shape in front center of hat over the green row.

Small green circle on hat - in lime green

  • Row 1: sc 6 in mr, slip stitch to first sc, and tie off

cut out animal crossing leaf logo from yellow felt, this will go onto the green circle later

Middle strip on top of hard hat - in yellow

  • Row 1: ch 2, sc in to 2nd chain from hook, ch 1 and turn.

  • Row 2-8: work each row with 1 sc, then ch 1 and turn for next row. Use last ch as tie off.

grass - in lime green

  • Row 1: Make a slip knot and pull it through one of the stitches in the bottom row of the backside of the body (this will make it look cleaner in the front). Chain 1, and sc into the same stitch. Work 4 sc, and then work (inc, 4 sc) around. FOR THE LAST SET, YOU WILL SC 2, and increase in the next stitch (last stitch of the row).

  • Row 2: (Inc, sc 5 around). The first inc will be worked into the very first green chain we made when we pulled the yarn through.

  • Row 3: (inc, sc 6) around

  • Row 4: (inc, sc 7) around

  • Row 5: (inc, sc 8) around

  • Row 6: (inc, sc 9) around. Chain 1 after last sc

  • Row 7: (back loop only) dc around

  • Row 8: (still working dc) (dc-dec, dc 9) around

  • Row 9: (dec, dc 8) around

  • Row 10: (dec, dc 1) around. Last set will be dec, 2 dc. Tie off. Leave long tail. Stuff grass part. Loosely weave tail around the top row and pull to seal off. Secure with knot.

finishing touches

  • Glue yellow felt leaf to green circle we made earlier.

  • Glue or sew the green circle to the front of the hard hat, slightly above, and partially overlapping the yellow trapezoid we embroidered earlier

  • Place hard hat to top of head, slightly angled. Use glue to make more secure

  • glue or sew yellow strip to top of hat

  • Using black felt, cut out eyes and mouth and glue to Lloid's body to make his face

  • Make sure all visible ends for entire project are weaved in or glued hidden

  • Place Lloid into the pot and he's done!
